An added extra of studying on the Sports courses at Sparsholt College is that you become part of our respected Sparsholt College Football Academy Programme.

We recognise that players develop at different times and as a result have a tiered programme for players of all abilities. Our coaches regularly evaluate performance, giving a target to improve individual performance and move into the next tier.

  • Sparsholt College has signed with the Chelsea Football Club Foundation – the charitable arm of Chelsea FC that empowers communities and individuals to achieve their goals through football. This new exciting association brings a new wealth of opportunities to Sport students studying at Sparsholt College, including:

    • Represent CFCF: Sparsholt in the Chelsea FC Cobham Cup, held annually at the Chelsea FC Training complex in Cobham
    • Take part in training sessions held at the Chelsea FC Training Complex in Cobham
    • Access to CFC Academy fixtures throughout the season
    • Opportunities to visit the Chelsea FC Stamford Bridge Stadium
    • Take their first steps in Coach Education courses delivered by the FA
    • Players qualified to a minimum FA Level 1 coaching in football standard during their time at the college will be able to access the CFCF Employment pathway
    • Players employed by Chelsea FC will have the opportunity to build their coaching experience working, locally, nationally and internationally

  • Sparsholt College’s Development Squad is for talented young footballers aged 16–19, aiming to develop their footballing potential alongside gaining national qualifications in sport at Levels 1–3. The programme is structured to give the best possible chance to succeed as a top flight footballer. Players in the Development Squad have the opportunity to play in the National League Youth Alliance.

  • This programme allows players to train in a high quality, competitive environment and play at the highest level of college football in Hampshire. There are opportunities for players to progress into the Sparsholt Development Squad and to attach to external clubs for weekend football to develop further.

  • Most of our College Second Team will take part in college football as well as gaining all the benefits of a full-time training environment.

All players train at least three times per week and play in a comprehensive match programme. Our teams compete in the following leagues and competitions:

  • National Football Youth League under 19’s
  • College Second Team Sparsholt
  • National League Youth Alliance
  • Hampshire Colleges’ Football League
  • FA Youth Cup
  • Hants Midweek Floodlit Cup
  • English Colleges’ Cup

For international students, full FA/FIFA international clearance will be required prior to playing in FA-registered matches.

“Playing in the FA Youth Cup is a really good experience. Our coach put me forward for a trial for the England School Boys team and I made it through to the final squad. We have played against Australia, and went on a tour of Holland where we won all our games.”

  • Sport, Fitness and Personal Training – BTEC level 3 National Extended Diploma
  • Sports Coaching and Development – BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma

  • 6 hours of training per week
  • UEFA-qualified coaches
