Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles

Really the course found me – I was taking part in the 14-16 day release programme while at school and found that I really enjoyed mechanics. After the first year I decided I wanted to study more, chatted to the tutors and took it from there – I’ve now been studying at Sparsholt for five years!

It was nice to be in a place where you are treated like an adult and on such an enjoyable course. From starting off with the basics the course really builds on that knowledge and looks in-depth at how things work. I really enjoyed stripping down the engines and seeing how all the components work together. There’s a nice balance between theory and practical work and you couldn’t ask for better tutors – you develop a good relationship where you both know what is expected of you.

Through a College contact I’ve got some work experience in a local garage which is going really well. I’ve been involved in general vehicle servicing, as well as some diagnostics and am hoping this will lead on to full-time employment in the trade.

The course is so worth it – if you put the work in, you get so much out. I’ve come out with more qualifications than I could imagine and have learnt some really essential skills in communication and working in a team that will help me throughout my life.
