At Sparsholt College we do everything we can to make sure that your child has a plan of what they want to do once they leave us, and we will do everything we can to get them started. Your Child may be interesting in going to university, starting an apprenticeship or going into full time employment. Our Careers guidance aims to expand the horizons of all students, of all ages, enabling your child to make informed career decisions in order to progress towards high personal and professional achievements and a fulfilling future.

All students can access a 1:1 Careers appointment with our qualified Careers Advisor. Students can receive help with:

  • Career exploration
  • Options after college
  • UCAS support
  • Apprenticeships
  • CV/ Employability skills
  • Gap year information

Guidance on how to book appointments is available on Moodle. During times of national lockdown, appointments are still available via Teams.

  • All students with an EHCP, or who have experience of care will be offered a dedicated 1:1 Careers appointment. Alternatively, students can book an appointment via Moodle, or they can ask their Key worker to contact the Careers department on their behalf. Parents and carers are welcome to attend.

  • The Southern Universities Network (SUN) provide impartial targeted progression support to students who are historically underrepresented in Higher Education. SUN provide Sparsholt and Andover College with a full time SUN Progression Mentor and funding for additional activities such as:

    · 1:1 appointments

    · Higher Education related trips

    · Workshops, talks and webinars

    · UCAS and University application support

SUN work collaboratively with local schools, colleges, universities and the local authority to help enable students to make an informed decision about their future. Students who are eligible for additional support will receive an email. For more information about SUN please visit

  • We are here to help students with the entire UCAS application process. We held our virtual Uni Bound Higher Education Progression event in June, which armed students with all the information they need to progress on to Higher Education. Students can still access talks and resources on the Careers Moodle pages.

    We also offer:

    · Dedicated in class UCAS workshops

    · UCAS drop-in sessions

    · Personal Statement check days

Parents often ask what they can do to support with the process. UCAS has created a handy Parents and Guardian’s Guide here: Advice For Parents And Guardians | UCAS | Parent Guide To University

  • In addition to the regular Careers programme, the Careers department hosts two grand events each year:

The Great Big Careers Day – 4th May 2021

Working with our Employment Advisors – our partners from industry, we are aiming to make this year’s event the best yet. The event will be virtual, but we are hoping for some ‘in person’ talks if permitted. We encourage students to keep an open mind and explore as many different careers as possible. We will welcome in employers from a range of careers and sectors to talk about their job, their industry, or to talk about effective career management.

If you would like to participate in our Great Big Careers Day, we would love to hear from you. Please email:

Uni Bound: Higher Education Progression day – 15th June 2021

Last year we hosted a very successful virtual event, with the enthusiastic support of universities from across the country. This year if restrictions allow, we will also welcome in representatives from local universities. Students will learn more about successfully applying to competitive courses/ universities, studying overseas , navigating the UCAS application process, and much more. All resources will be available to students on Moodle after the event.
