All students (full-time, part-time or apprentices) have access to the full range of career resources via the Careers Hub student Teams page.
Students can access those pages by clicking on their Teams landing page, and then ‘All Teams’. From there you will see the student Careers Hub page for your campus. The pages are continuously updated to include useful information on the UCAS application process, apprenticeships, employability, and labour market and industry information.
Students can also find links to subscribe to the career platform Unifrog.
Booking an appointment: For those wishing to see the Careers Advisor, you will find the link to book an appointment on the Careers Hub Teams page or here. All 1:1 appointments are in person however, we can arrange appointments via Teams where necessary. For those with a quick question, drop-in sessions are available over lunch at each campus.
Students with an EHCP or who have experience of Care will be referred to the Careers Advisor for an appointment by their Key Worker, however, all students are welcome to book an appointment using the aforementioned link.
As an apprentice, you are gaining both experience and a qualification: a valuable combination which sets you up for a successful career. After your apprenticeship is completed, you may be thinking about your next step, whether that be moving on to another employer, another apprenticeship or even university. We are here to support you on your journey.
All apprentices are encouraged to use our Career resources; you are also welcome to book an appointment with the Careers Advisor if you would like to talk through your options. The best way to access these resources, and to find the link to book an appointment would be via the Careers Hub Teams page. From there, you will see the channel ‘Information for Apprentices’.
Please note that all apprentices access the ‘Sparsholt Careers Team Hub’ – regardless of the campus they attend.
Events to support students with the application process include:
UniBound HE Progression Day: Each Spring we hold a UniBound Higher Education Progression Day which consists of virtual talks presented by university partners. Recordings of talks are available via the Careers Hub student Teams page. In addition we also host University Fair’s, which are advertised on student teams pages.
Personal Statement check days: Two dedicated all-day drop-in sessions (no appointment needed) where students can get their statement checked by the Careers team, or a professional from a local university. These dates are in early are advertised on the Career Hub Teams page and by the Progress and Academic coaches.
Lunch time drop-in sessions at the Careers POD
Careers and Progression appointments: Students can book a 1:1 appointment with the online booking system. They can find the link on the Careers Hub student TEAMS page
Parent’s Student Finance Information Evening Apply 25 Cycle (January 29 2025, online): This is a more in-depth session which take you through the finer points of application, eligibility, and additional financial support. All applicants and their parents will receive their invitation via email.
Further information is available via the UCAS website where you will find handy guides and information pages on all aspects of application, research, degree apprenticeships, and Student Finance.
If you did not get the grades needed to confirm your place, try not to worry there are still options.
If you only just missed the grade requirements, your chosen university may still take you. Get in touch with their Admissions department to ask if your application could still be considered.
Research options carefully, there is no need to ‘panic shop’ and jump onto a course you don’t really want to take.
If it all feels a bit too much, you may want to consider a Gap Year and reapply in the Apply26 cycle. Applications are accepted early autumn, and since you already have your results, you are likely to receive an offer quite quickly. You will need to create a new application; to receive your reference you will need to link your application to the college.
Contact your Progress Coach or the Careers Team (careers@sparsholt.ac.uk) for your Campus Buzzword.
