It was made public yesterday (8 January 2020) that there has been an outbreak of Equine Herpes Virus type 1 at Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre. This appears to be the neurological form of the virus, for which there is no cure or treatment, other than supportive therapy.

Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre in Stubbington, Hampshire has taken all appropriate measures to contain the virus and is in ongoing discussions with recognised experts in equine virology as how best to manage the situation.

On the advice of our vets and as a precautionary measure, we have decided to limit all horse movement on and off site at Sparsholt Equine Centre until the all clear has been given locally.

Full bio-security measures at the college equine centre have been put into place in line with best practice.
