Apprenticeship in Childcare and Early Years - Level 2-3

For people who love children and care about their development, a career in children’s care will be fulfilling and satisfying. Apprentices could work as a nursery assistant or playgroup assistant in a care or learning setting such as a nursery, pre-school, children’s centre or créche. The ideal Apprentice will enjoy working with children, be sympathetic and caring, good at communicating and good at working as part of a team.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

This programme provides you with practical and theoretical training in the care, education and development of young children. You will cover elements such as equality and inclusion, personal development, safeguarding children, supporting positive behaviour, environments for children, play and leisure, snack times and nutrition, communication, language, literacy and creative development for working in a nursery or pre-school care setting.

An Apprenticeship will also help develop a professional working style, safe working practices, awareness of the work environment and communicating effectively with colleagues and customers.

Other skills will include functional skills needed in the work place (Maths, English, ICT) and specialist qualifications such as the Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
