What will I learn?

Our popular distance learning courses allow you to study for a recognised qualification that is of value to your work and personal development and is a great route to take if you are looking to further develop existing skills (provided you are resident in England). The courses are Level 2 qualifications, accredited by NCFE Cache, an acknowledged leader in the field of distance learning.

This qualification aims to introduce learners to the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work, and some of the approaches that underpin the use of these skills. It gives learners the opportunity to investigate the knowledge and skills needed to use counselling skills and engage in a helping interaction appropriately.

The course will cover

  • Using counselling skills
  • Introduction to counselling skills theories
  • Diversity and ethics in the use of counselling skills
  • Counselling skills and personal development

Learners will also be offered the opportunity to take the listener role in an optional simulated counselling session delivered via MS Teams. Although this is not a mandatory part of the course, it is highly recommended for those who wish to progress on to higher level counselling courses.

Please note that this qualification does not qualify learners to practise as a counsellor.

    Where will it lead me?

Learners may also want to consider some of our other social care courses. If learners undertake the MS Teams session, they may also be able to progress onto higher level counselling courses
