What will I learn?

This course will help delegates to understand the behaviours and attitudes that affect the way people respond to each other, and as a result teaches the learner assertive and positive response techniques.

The one day programme will cover:

  • Identifying the constituents of an assertive style and differentiating between this and aggression
  • The different legislation that is relevant to assertiveness
  • The effects of non-assertive, assertive and aggressive behaviour
  • Using verbal and non-verbal skills to enhance assertive behaviour
  • Identifying situations where assertive behaviour is appropriate and choosing whether or not to use it

    Entry Requirements

    This course is aimed at anyone who feels they would like to be able to be more assertive (or less aggressive).

Due to funding restrictions this course is not available to existing full time Sparsholt College/Andover College students aged 16, 17 or 18 (or 19-24 with an EHCP) on the 31/8 in the year they started/start their course.
