What will I learn?
This course is designed for those that have successfully completed the City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants and will learn more about the advanced styling required to become a fully qualified dog groomer.
The course is a mixture of theory and practical looking at a variety of topics including Legislation around running your own dog grooming business, breed standard styling, dog diseases and parasites, dealing with first aid situations in the grooming salon etc.
This course is assessed via timed practical assessments of your styling ability and online theory exams to show your understanding of the subject knowledge.
Home study around the subject is required and you will be given access to online and physical resources to aid you in this.
Courses take place one day per week (day dependant in intake start date), term time only.
Where will it lead me?
This will possibly lead you to setting up your own dog grooming business, either mobile or salon based. With the potential to register as a qualified groomer with the British Dog Groomers Association or the Groomers Spotlight. As well as continuing to further your career through Continuing Professional Development with attendance to specialist seminars and talks.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must have completed the Level 2 Certificate in Dog Grooming Assistants. Additional experience in dog grooming would be beneficial in completing the course.
All applicants will be required to attend an interview, and once an offer of a place has been made to you, a 10% deposit will be payable via our college on line store to confirm your place on the course.

Due to funding restrictions this course is not available to existing full time Sparsholt College/Andover College students aged 16, 17 or 18 (or 19-24 with an EHCP) on the 31/8 in the year they started/start their course.
