Student Story
“I chose Sparsholt because it offers a practical course that is about all of my interests. I really enjoyed the coastal unit, going on various site visits and learning about how the coastline was formed."
Tommy, Countryside ManagementStudying on our beautiful 176-hectare estate and with a range of conservation organisations, you will learn an incredible amount about the natural environment, the British countryside and the iconic species that live within it.
Conservation is at the heart of everything we do and our courses provide an entry into the industry for school leavers and adults seeking a career change. Our strong industry links, expert staff and outstanding natural facilities make Sparsholt College a natural choice for the study of habitat and rural resources management.
Countryside students have created new areas of chalk downland on the campus which has helped to significantly increase the Small Blue (Cupido minimus) butterfly population and provides a vital nectar and pollen source for many other insects.
“After my time as a Sparsholt student, I worked on both national and international conservation projects. I have particular interest in applied ecology, practical habitat management and ornithology.”
