I first heard about Sparsholt through my brother who studied Game and Wildlife here. I heard great feedback about it from others and compared to other colleges it stood out the most. Sparsholt has helped start me off in this career and helped me learn so many new things, it’s given me so much more confidence in myself as a person.
I have enjoyed meeting a range of people with experience from all sorts of backgrounds. They have given me a huge amount of insight into what I could do in the future.
The course so far has been challenging and has pushed me to think more like a gamekeeper, which is helping me grow into capable young adult. The lecturers are always there to help you improve your ideas on a drive, management or even rearing.
Sparsholt plays a huge role in preparing you for work – all the practical sessions that we do here give you the skills to do the job, the NPTC tickets then prove that you can work correctly and the staff provide their own advice from their years within the industry.
The facilities at Sparsholt College are of a high standard, with a variety of up-to-date equipment that allows a good range of lessons and helps me familiarise myself with different gym equipment. The lecturers at the college are also all very supportive.
Sparsholt is fantastic at supporting students – the College tutors and pastoral tutors are good and there is lots of help available from study support and the library. The College is very well-equipped for anything you might need.
If you’re considering the Access course, I would say do it! It’s a year but it doesn’t feel like a year and if you’re unsure of which degree you want to go on to, it will help you make your mind up.
I have learnt so much at Sparsholt. I like that the college has a wide range of animal species to work with and the amount of hands on practical experience on offer.
Sparsholt prepared me for this as the course includes regular time with the Army so I could find out more information and also see what the lifestyle is like. Having lecturers who have served in the Army meant that I could get answers to questions that I was struggling to find out.
Sparsholt had been on my radar for many years – it has a reputation for being a leader in the field and I wanted to learn from the best. The thought of also being involved in the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and working on site at the set of Gardeners’ Question Time was a big draw. It truly is a phenomenal place to learn.
I would definitely recommend Sparsholt. I’ve been here for three years and I’ve loved every minute of it. There’s always something new to learn and I think Sparsholt gets the balance of the practical and theory side of the lessons so well.
I chose Sparsholt College because of its great location and huge reputation – it has produced most of the big names in riverkeeping and in fish farming. I found the course to be very educational, very fun and very interactive. My tutors are really supportive and if I need any help they are always there to give it to me.
